The Lincolnland Classic Bible Bowl Tournament began in 1976 at Lincoln Christian University in Lincoln, IL. Patsy Wilson directed the tournament from 1976 to 2000. The tournament consisted of both Round Robin and Double Elimination play. Trophies and scholarships have been awarded to the top placing teams since the beginning of the tournament. The written test, first known as the M.Q. Test, made its debut in 1987. At its peak, the tournament averaged 50 teams. After Patsy’s retirement in 2000, Tracy Thomas became the director of the tournament from 2001-2003. There was a five-year break at LCU, until 2008 when Daniel Swihart became the new director of the Lincolnland Classic and reinstated the important event on the Lincoln campus.
