Presidential Search Update – April 2014
Much has happened in the six months since Dr. Keith H. Ray announced his plans to retire from higher education on May 31, 2014. The Board of Trustees are moving forward prayerfully in the Presidential Search as we seek God's will for our future.
Following the winter Board of Trustees meeting, the trustees took the following steps forward in the Presidential Search process:
- Collaborative Prayer Initiative: While, individually, the trustees and campus community have faithfully supported this process in prayer, LCU has coordinated a broader prayer effort that includes weekly prayer suggestions that are shared on campus with faculty, staff, and students, and more broadly with our alumni through email messages.
- Appoint a Transitional President: Dr. Don Green has been working side-by-side with Dr. Keith Ray since March 1. Click here to refer back to the announcement posted on our website in February. Already his wisdom and compassion have helped our campus through the FY15 budget planning process.
- Re-establish the Search Advisory Team: This team is led by Board of Trustees Chair Dr. Gene Harker and trustees: Carolyn Bartlett and Dustin Fulton. They are joined by eight faculty and staff members; Rob Maupin, Rochelle Cathcart, Robert Kurka, Bob Rea, Gordon Venturella, Neal Windham, Silas McCormick, and Jan Rutledge. This team has been charged with assuring meaningful collaboration between the trustees and campus, exploring the hiring of an executive search firm, determining the interview process for presidential candidates, and recommending a single candidate to the Board of Trustees, with the final hiring decision resting with the trustees.
Please pray for us as we work together on this important process. If you have any comments, questions, or concerns, feel free to contact any member of the Search Advisory Team.
