LCU Baseball Drops Two in St. Louis

The Lincoln Christian University (LCU) baseball team traveled to St. Louis Christian College (SLCC) Tuesday, April 22, 2014, for the first of two double-headers that will wind down their 2014 season. The Red Lions will host SLCC for the return games on Friday, April 25.

In Tuesday's first game, at 1 p.m., LCU (1-12) starting pitcher, junior Matt Krause (Mt. Zion, IL/Mt. Zion HS) pitched a complete game. Giving up 4 runs in the first two innings, the Red Lions bounced back to tie the game at 4-4 by the top of the fourth. However, the fifth and sixth innings were all SLCC, as they tacked on another 7 runs to end the game, 11-4.

LCU junior pitcher Scott Reynolds (Sidney, IL/Unity HS) started the second game. SLCC picked up where they left off in the first game, scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the first inning, and one more in the second. LCU would score 2 more runs late in the game, but junior relief pitcher Chris Krause (Mt. Zion, IL/Mt. Zion HS) would give up 5 more runs to the SLCC Soldiers. The final score for the late game was LCU-2, SLCC-9.
