LCU Red Lions are outrun by Grace Royals

The Lincoln Christian University (LCU) men’s basketball team (4-5) hosted Grace University of Omaha, NE (4-10) Saturday, December 14, 2013, at the main campus' Laughlin Center in Lincoln, IL. The LCU Red Lions chased the Grace Royals the entire game, getting close several times but ultimately falling, 70-80.

The Royals' intensity was immediate and unrelenting, but LCU made great efforts defensively and kept the game within reach throughout. Going into the locker room at halftime, Lincoln Christian trailed 30-40. The Red Lions came out to start the second half with purpose and drive, closing the gap to within 3 points twice, but failing to match Grace’s intensity or control of the boards. LCU had only 20 rebounds, their lowest season total to date.

LCU senior David Graves (Eustace, TX/Eustace High) led his teammates in scoring for the third straight game with 15 points, followed by freshman Jimmy Smylie (Springfield, IL/ Calvary Academy) with 12.
