Gift Benefits Seminary Building, Honors Dr. Frankland

On Wednesday, May 8, 2013, Lincoln Christian University recognized a $25,000 gift from Second Church of Christ in Danville, IL, at the closing of the weekly Seminary chapel service in Restoration Hall and was designated in honor of Seminary Dean Dr. Dinelle Frankland.

The gift was pledged as part of the Lincoln 2015 Capital Campaign. The church made the gift out of their annual Thanksgiving offering over the course of five years. The gift was given to honor Dr. Frankland at the recommendation of Linda (Hepner) Reeves (LCC - '78) who was on Second's mission team at the time and was a longtime friend of Dr. Frankland.

Gifts received during the Lincoln 2015 Capital Campaign were designated for the improvement of Restoration Hall, most significantly the roof replacement that was completed in 2010.

Second Church of Christ in Danville has been a regular, faithful supporting church for more than 18 years. The church was founded in 1899 by a group of 75 people from the First Church of Christ who were interested in starting a church on the east side of town. The church now offers four Sunday services (7:45, 9:00, 10:15, & 11:30) and averages around 1,200 in weekly attendance. LCU alumnus Terry Goodwin (LCC ‘00) currently serves as the Jr. High Minister at Second.

A plaque will be hung outside of Dr. Frankland’s office in Restoration Hall to recognize the faithfulness of Second Christian Church through their generous support of LCU.
