The Lincoln Christian Men’s Soccer Program strives to be successful both on and off the field. We measure that success in three ways: 1. our personal relationship with Jesus Christ, 2. how we perform in the classroom, and 3. how we perform on the field. We understand that once we step onto the soccer field on game day, our actions and attitudes should be that of Christ.

We are currently in a rebuilding stage of the program, and because of that, we are looking for players to come in and compete for roster spots right away.  Our hope is to be competing for regional championships in the near future.  We want you to be a part of a historic rebuilding process that will evolve in a top-level collegiate soccer program.

Do you want to play for a team that glorifies Christ while playing the game you love? Do you want to play for a coaching staff that prepares you to be a leader on and off the field? Do you want to be a part of a team in which you will build relationships that will last a lifetime? If so, I encourage you to fill out an an Athletic Recruit-Me form today. I look forward to hearing from you!

John Merritt

Men’s Soccer Head Coach

John Merritt was hired in the spring of 2013 to take over the men’s soccer program at Lincoln Christian University. John was the assistant coach for the men’s soccer program two years prior to his appointment. As assistant coach, John aided in the transitioning process of two other head coaches, while providing stability within the program. In 2011, the men’s soccer team went 5-11 and in 2012 the team went 4-13. In 2012, John helped the program achieve a goal average of 1.71 per game, which was ranked #13 in the nation for that statistical category.

John played as a student at LCU, where he started all four years at the forward position. During his freshman year, he led the team in goals scored and scored 19 goals throughout his career. He graduated in May of 2012 with a BA in Intercultural Studies.

In addition to his coaching responsibilities, John works full-time as an Environmental Services Specialist at LCU. John has also helped with a local U-9 soccer club team for the last two years.
