New Partnership Program in Spiritual Formation

Lincoln Christian University is pleased to partner with Eastview Christian Church in nearby Normal (IL) to offer a new Master of Arts in Spiritual Formation that students can complete in two years. Courses are offered at Eastview, either on six consecutive Monday evenings or on one extended weekend (with pre-course and post-course work). Summer classes may be taken independently from anywhere.

This partnership program is under the direction of Dr. J.K. Jones, LCU's Professor at Large of Spiritual Formation and Eastview's new Pastor of Spiritual Formation. Dr. Jones will direct and teach a number of courses in this degree program. Other courses will be taught by highly qualified instructors which include Dr. Neal Windham, Dr. Mark Scott, Dr. Chuck Sackett, Rob Maupin, Craig Smith, and Eastview's Lead Pastor, Mike Baker.

This new partnership program in Spiritual Formation will enable Christian adults to practice the presence of God more deeply in their lives, their work, and their church. The program will focus on classical and contemporary traditions of spiritual formation that can be applied in one's own setting, whether as a vol-unteer or in a paid position. This is not a privatized degree, but focuses on both the individual and corpo-rate nature of spiritual formation. That is a key reason why LCU is partnering with Eastview Christian Church in this effort. Eastview is a breakthrough congregation of nearly 5,000 and will host most of the classes.

Tuition is reasonably priced at $299 per credit hour (a $100 discount over the School of Adult & Graduate Studies' standard tuition). In addition to the M.A. degree program, two other options are also available: 1) a 20-course, 60-hour Bachelor of Arts in Spiritual Formation, with 10 of the 20 courses focused on Spiritual Formation; and 2) a 4-course, 12-hour Certificate in Spiritual Formation, available to anyone regardless of educational background, for a reduced rate of $150 per course.
