New Online MA in Intercultural Studies (begins Fall 2012, pending approval)

Lincoln Christian University's School of Adult & Graduate Studies is pleased to announce the development of a new online Master of Arts in Intercultural Studies. Applications are being accepted now for this 36-hour, 12-course graduate degree, which is designed especially for those serving in cross-cultural contexts--whether in another country or in this country.

Program highlights:
  • this new program will feature seven core courses and five elective courses
  • the elective courses will allow students to focus on areas that are most pertinent to their current context (e.g. urban ministry, youth ministry, teaching ministry, or other topics of interest)
  • core courses will include such topics as global christianity, theology of missions, contextualization, history of missions, anthropology for missions, world religions, and a capstone project
  • faculty will include well-known missiologists, missionaries, and cross-cultural experts from a broad range of backgrounds: Africa, Asia, and the Americas—urban, rural, and small town
  • all classes will be seven weeks in length, with two courses offered consecutively each term (fall, spring, summer)
  • small class sizes (10-12 students) to provide great opportunities for networking with like-minded missionaries from around the world

Directing this program is Dr. Rochelle Cathcart. She has served in various cross-cultural contexts—from teaching in rural Southeast Asia to church planting in urban North America. Her doctoral focused on cross-cultural preaching in small town and urban America among various ethnic groups. Assisting her will be other LCU missions faculty, including Mike Nichols and Rob Maupin.

This new online degree is designed to be completed in about two years (36 credit-hour program). The current tuition rate is $399 per credit hour, with some scholarships available and full access to federally subsidized loans for qualified applicants.
