Program Overview M.A. in Bible and Theology (Online)
The Hargrove School of Adult & Graduate Studies at Lincoln Christian University offers the Master of Arts in Bible and Theology as a 12-course, 36-hour graduate program delivered entirely online. The goal of the MA in Bible and Theology is to enable Christians to understand the Scriptures holistically and to think theologically in order to inform and enrich their personal and professional lives, regardless of their vocation.
This program is intended for Christians who want to delve more deeply into the unsearchable riches of Scripture. While not designed to prepare people for full-time, vocational ministry (LCU has a Seminary that does that), this online program will provide a strong Biblical and theological foundation for anyone serving the Church, as well as the workplace. Though it is a graduate degree, it is not a technical degree (no Greek or Hebrew requirements). The only two basic admission requirements are an accredited baccalaureate degree (in any area) and a longing to learn to think Biblically and theologically, to view the world from a Biblical perspective.
The online nature of this program may appeal especially to Christians in various settings in diverse places, including international students. All online courses are seven weeks in length, with two courses offered back to back each term (Fall, Spring, Summer). This format allows busy adults to focus on one course at a time and still complete all requirements in two years. The program includes a fixed core of six courses that provide a broad foundation in Biblical and theological studies at the graduate level. The program includes a flexible slate of six elective courses that allow students to focus in Old Testament, New Testament, and/or Theology.
Students complete the core courses as part of a cohort of 10-15 students who begin and end the program together, providing a strong Christian community of peer learners along the way. The elective courses allow students to interact with a wider range of colleagues, with flexibility in the courses chosen. In addition, students with appropriate graduate coursework from an accredited institution may transfer in up to 18 hours. The entire program culminates in a capstone experience that results in either a research-based paper or field-based project.
The director of this program is Dr. Trevor Cochell, who will be happy to answer any questions you may have. Graduates of this program will...
