John Merritt

Head Men’s Soccer Coach
John Merritt was hired in the Spring of 2013 to take over the Men’s Soccer Program at Lincoln Christian University.  For the last two years, John has been the assistant coach for the Men’s Soccer Program.  As the assistant coach, John has aided in the transitioning process of two different head coaches, while providing stability within the program.  In 2011, the Men’s Soccer team went 5-11 and in 2012 the team went 4-13.  In 2012, John helped the program have a goal average of 1.71 per game, which was ranked #13 in the nation for that statistical category.

As a player, John played collegiately at LCU. He started all four years at the forward position during his playing time.  During his freshman year, he led the team in goals scored and scored 19 goals throughout his career.

He graduated in May of 2012 with a B.A. in Intercultural Studies.

On top of his coaching responsibilities at LCU, John has helped out with a local U-9 soccer club team for the last two years.  John also works full-time as an Environmental Services Specialist at LCU.
