On Saturday, February 19, 2011, former student athletes Anne Sheets and Kevin McCaster were inducted into the Lincoln Christian University (LCU) Athletic Hall of Fame at an award ceremony between the women's and men's Basketball games against visiting Emmaus Bible College.
Anne Sheets, class of 1995, was presented her award by former women's basketball coach Nancy Siddens. Sheets was recognized for her achievements in both basketball and volleyball while a student at LCU. Her basketball achievements (1991-1994) include being recognized as an NCCAA All-American, named to the NCCAA All Mid-West Region Team, and was on five All-Tournament teams. Sheets was a starter all four years and served as Captain her senior year. She scored 907 points, made 595 rebounds, shot 50% from the field and scored 73% from the free throw line. She also recorded 162 assists and 119 steals during her career. As a member of the volleyball team (1991-1993), she was named to the NCCAA All-Midwest Regional team. Sheets played in 284 games with 2,056 assists, 198 kills, 132 blocks and 247 service aces.
Kevin McCaster played his first two years of college basketball at nearby Lincoln College before transferring to Lincoln Christian University where he played from 1983-1985. McCaster was presented his Hall of Fame award by former coach and athletic director Lynn Laughlin. McCaster's coach from Lincoln College, Al Pickering, was also present to honor McCaster. McCaster's achievements include being recognized as an NCCAA All-American, named to the NCCAA All-Region Team, and was on three All-Tournament teams. He played 51 games for LCU, scored 818 points, gathered in 571 rebounds, and shot 54% from the field during his career.
Sheets and McCaster were presented with individual plaques and sweaters. Permanent plaques recognizing these fine athletes will be added to the Hall of Fame wall in the Laughlin Center on the LCU campus.
