The Lincoln Christian University Internship Program
The Internship experience is the capstone course for each degree-seeking student at Lincoln Christian University, giving each student the opportunity to integrate and evaluate what they have learned, in and out of the classroom. The learning context is an actual ministry setting under the direction of a qualified mentor. Lincoln Christian University believes that students need an opportunity to experience ministry, reflect upon that ministry experience with a mentor, articulate insights which have been gained, and plan for future ministry utilizing the newly learned insights.
The internship experience has proven to be a time of personal growth and maturity where interns learn about themselves, their strengths and weaknesses, and their spiritual walk. Our desire is that each student will learn to "be" God's person as well as be able to "do" ministry in a church or non-church setting. The development of the student's identity and integrity is a vital concern to each faculty member at Lincoln Christian University. The Lincoln Christian University goal for the internship is to prepare Christian leaders for the world who are growing in their relationship with Jesus Christ, in their ministry skills, and in their vision for the Kingdom of God. Are you interested in becoming a mentor? Lincoln Christian University is looking for qualified mentors who will partner with us in preparing leaders to serve. Are you educated and experienced in your field (at least 5 years since graduation), willing to dedicate time on a regular basis throughout the entire internship to mentor the intern, and report on the intern’s progress as required? Then we would be thrilled to join with you! We believe that you and the internship site will benefit as much from this experience as the intern. We offer internships in the following areas: Youth Ministry (with possible focus in campus ministry, inner city ministry, or camping), Preaching, Youth Ministry & Preaching, Spiritual Formation and Ministry; Intercultural Studies (with various focuses), Children and Family Ministry, Educational Leadership and Discipleship, Philosophy, Psychology (Counseling), Biblical Exposition, Communication, General Studies, Business, and Worship.
