Illinois Monetary Award Program (MAP) Update

This update is provided in order to keep you informed about MAP grant funding changes instituted by the state of Illinois. LCU students were notified via email at the end of December that, due to the state budget and application volume, the state has reduced all MAP grants for the spring semester by 5%, or no more than $125.

Many LCU undergraduate students depend on Monetary Award Program (MAP) state grants to help fund their education. Unfortunately, financial uncertainties in Springfield continue to delay the disbursement of MAP grant funds to the University. Although MAP recipients have already completed their fall 2010 courses, Lincoln Christian University (LCU) did not receive those grant funds from the state of Illinois until February 2011.

LCU is committed to do everything possible to support our MAP recipients as Illinois legislators attempt to resolve the serious financial issues that plague our state. Therefore, LCU will continue to "carry" students who have MAP awards credited to their accounts despite the delay in receiving the funds, from the state, to cover those grants. LCU will also cover the difference in the spring semester grants to avoid any additional financial burden to current LCU students and their parents.

We know how important it is for LCU students to continue their progress toward realizing important educational goals. We also realize that the uncertainties in state grant funding continue to be a concern for students and their families. If you need help navigating through this difficult time, let us know. Our goal is to help you remain focused on achieving your educational goals. If you have questions, please contact the Office of Financial Aid via email or by calling 217.732.3168.
