National Coach of the Year

| LEXINGTON, Ky. (December 9, 2009) - The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) is proud
to announce that Lincoln Christian University head women's volleyball coach Jason Farr has been selected
as the 2009 AVCA NCCAA National Coach of the Year.
In his third season as the commander of the Lincoln Christian volleyball program, Farr guided his squad to its second consecutive NCCAA Division II Tournament Runner-Up showing in 2009, with a final overall record of 29-7. The Red Lions rolled through the tournament's pool play and swept Grace University in the semifinals before suffering a heartbreaking 3-2 loss to Clearwater Christian College in the championship bout. Farr, who began as an assistant with the program in 2000 before taking the reins in 2007, mentored the 2009 Co-NCCAA Player of the Year Megan Callahan, while also having three other student-athletes earn spots on the NCCAA All-America teams. He has directed the Red Lions to a 64-35 record in his three years as head coach. Since Farr came aboard the LCU program, the Red Lions have earned four NCCAA Division II Tournament Runner-Up finishes (2004, 2006, 2008, 2009) and captured the championship crown in 2003. In addition, LCU has now made 14 consecutive trips to the national tournament. The AVCA will formally present both coaches their awards at the 2009 jostens Coaches Honors Luncheon in Tampa, Fla., on Thursday, December 17. The luncheon is held in conjunction with the 2009 AVCA Annual Convention. |
