University Lectureships

Lincoln Christian University supports the efforts of our students, church members, and nearby residents to be lifelong learners. One of the ways that LCU assists in fulfilling this goal is by inviting to campus a wide variety of noted scholars, teachers, and preachers who are influencing the church and the world today.

James D. Strauss Worldview Lectureship
The University provides both a fall and spring lectureship series each year. Every fall, the James D. Strauss Worldview Lectureship honors Dr. James Strauss, a retired LCU professor who taught in the areas of theology and philosophy. The Strauss Lectureship is typically held the second Tuesday and Wednesday of October. J.P. Moreland, Ben Witherington, David Dockery and Nancy Pearcey are just some of the most recent guest lecturers. The 2010 Strauss Lectureship will be October 5 and 6 with guest speaker Dr. David P. Gushee.

The spring lectureship alternates every other year between the Seminary Lectureship and the John M. Webb Lectureship on Preaching.

Seminary Lectureship
The Seminary Lectureship invites speakers that focus on the various disciplines represented in the Seminary such as theology, psychology, Christian education, intercultural studies, history or other areas thus providing a wide range of topics and lecturers Some of the more recent speakers have been Robert Webber, Paul Maier, and Diane Langberg. The graduate school is pleased to present Dr. Peter Kuzmic as the spring Seminary lecturer. He will be on campus April 13, 2011.

John M. Webb Lectureship
The John M. Webb Lectureship also pays tribute to the life and legacy of Dr. John Webb, long-time Academic Dean and Professor of Preaching at Lincoln Christian. As a continuing testimony to the heart of the University in preparing preachers, LCU invites gifted preachers and professors of preaching to challenge our thinking and uphold the professional preaching ministry in today's world. Recent Webb lecturers have included the sons of Dr. John Webb, Joseph and John, as well as other noted preachers such as Haddon Robinson, Eugene Lowry, Michael Duduit, and Robert Smith, Jr.

All lectureships are free and open to the public. Please contact the University at 217.732.3168 for more information concerning any of our annual lectureships.
