B.A. in Spiritual Formation Program Overview
The Spiritual Formation degree completion program is designed to enable adult learners to practice the presence of God
more deeply in their lives, their work, and their church. This program is an undergraduate option for the MA in Spiritual
Formation, offered off site at Eastview Christian Church in Normal, IL.
The program director, Dr. J.K. Jones, Jr., serves as Eastview's
Pastor of Spiritual Formation, as well as Professor at Large of Spiritual Formation at Lincoln Christian University. This
undergraduate option is open to qualified Christian adults who could benefit from being in class with graduate students, since
both groups meet together in the same classes though undergraduate requirements are different. Undergraduate students desiring
a BA degree must not only complete ten courses (30 hours) in the major, but an additional 91 hours as described below.
Program Learning Outcomes
The B.A. in Spiritual Formation is intended to graduate students who will:
- Live faithfully by practicing the presence of God through spiritual formation principles and practices.
- Think Biblically by understanding and applying spiritual formation in context of a Biblical worldview.
- Grow intellectually by engaging classical/contemporary traditions of spiritual formation.
- Improve professionally by demonstrating skills appropriate to directing spiritual formation programs.
- Learn continually by developing a passion for lifelong learning where they live, work, and worship.
