Applying for Aid
To be eligible for financial assistance from Lincoln Christian University, you must be accepted for admission before receiving any aid. Contact the Admissions Office to complete the admissions process.
Forms to Complete
Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and list Lincoln Christian University as one of your school choices. The FAFSA (www.fafsa.ed.gov) may be completed online. For 2009-2010, our name on the FAFSA is listed as Lincoln Christian College (001708). Thirty percent of our students are then randomly selected for verification. If selected, a student is then required to complete the federal verification form and send requested documentation.
Acceptance of Financial Aid
The Financial Aid Office will notify you by your school email when aid is ready for acceptance on the student portal. Review your offered financial aid, accept or deny the aid, and contact the Financial Aid Office if any questions.
Student Loans
If you have accepted a Stafford Loan, then first time borrowers at LCU must complete entrance loan counseling and a master promissory note. All loan funds are sent directly to the school and will be posted to your student account.
Satisfactory Academic Progress
Federal law requires that students receiving Title IV funds meet a satisfactory academic progress guideline. A student must meet a minimum GPA, have earned 67% of the total hours attempted, and complete the degree before the total hours attempted equals 150% of the total degree hours. Failure to meet these guidelines will result in financial aid ineligibility.
Changes and Appeals
Dependency Status Appeals
If you don't meet the U.S. Department of Education's definition of an independent student as outlined on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), but believe you should be treated as an independent student because of family circumstances, request a review of your dependency status.. To do this, you will need to:
* Complete a Dependency Appeal form
* Provide required documentation supporting your independent status, which can include letters from individuals familiar with your situation such as lawyers, police, clergy, high school counselors, or social workers.
If your dependency appeal is approved, one of our advisors will authorize a dependency override on your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Eligibility Changes
If one or more of the following changes has occurred, you may be eligible to have the information on your Student Aid Report (SAR) amended and make you eligible for more financial aid. You will need to complete a Request for Special Circumstance form.
